If you mean on the recieving end (downloading) I agree especially considering
the sending end is unaware of the proper permissions, timestamps, etc. of the
recieving end in this particular case.

I already covered minicom and the zmodem dealies.  If he is using the default
MultiMail setup then the directory isn't the problem and expects the downloaded
QWK archive to be writable by the user firing up MultiMail.  From what he
posted here that would be his root account and the permissions were read only
by every{one,thing}.  That is why I suggested he add a user to the dialup group
and try it with that account and see if it is the same there except hopefully
the ownership will be that account rather than root and the downloaded QWK ends
up where MultiMail expects to find it.  If the permissions are still 444 then
it will require fixing otherwise not.

If I had to bet on it then the DOS-think zmodem dealie, but won't be surprised
if the DOS-think minicom turns out to be the culprit.  :-)

It *should* be a /home account if he expects the DOS-think, crappy c++
dependent MultiMail to behave itself.  <BFEG>

If that is true then he is doing this wrong.  All the stuff is meant for single
user and the best way to deal with DOS-think is to restrict it to a single
user's account.  I don't believe message offling was ever intended to be
multiuser.

Did I miss anything?  Definetly kept my anti-DOS-think attitude maxed out if
nothing else.
