PQ>Hi! Ed,
Hi Paul,

PQ>here till about 2009 (a 09.xx version perhaps). I'm still running 10.04 LTS
PQ>(April 2010)...

Well Sir, I got Oracle's vBox downloaded but haven't opened it yet.

On Oracle's vBox page I saw the version I was downloading was
released around June 20, 2012, so I now have downloaded the Latest and
Greatest vBox and Ubuntu versions, now I just hafta learn how they work
together, and I will, with Help here. ;-)

The reason I got 7.04 was that it was mentioned in the WIN95 echo in
2007 so I thought I'd grab it and look at it as a few others in that
echo were talking about their experiences with it.

I really appreciate all the work you did in your last reply.

Some of the Linuxie things in the message I am sorta familiar with,
although you did show me some stuff new to me like that -halp option and
using the Tilde for meaning a users Home area. Thanks a bunch!
I haven't read about those two things in any of the Man Pages I've
looked at during the past 5 years (on and off). Thanks!

I have seen comments in here long ago about sudo and have tried using
that some too.

I'm comfortable using the Terminal because my beginning in the world of
computers was with Commodore Basic at home and ITT-DOS 2.11 at work.

But to help my friend out I need to know more of how to do U'u things in
a GUI setting instead of at a Command Line as your examples were.

I could follow your examples because I read about Linux having
Permissions and already know what those rw- thingy are.

I don't think my friend cares about that stuff, he just wants to play
games, use email and browse the internet.

I'm different, I always wanted to know the How and Why the thing keeps
slapping Me in the face. <GRIN>

It was while I was running 7.04 in a vBox that I tried to create a user
account with my name, so that I wouldn't be having to use the Ubuntu
default account as I played around with U'u.

While making the Ed account, which I found out couldn't be done because
Ubuntu doesn't like Capital Letters in a Users Account Name, I finally
figured out it wasn't my Password causing the problem, it was my use of
a Capital Letter in the users name, so I changed the name to ed and
everything was just fine after that and the account was created.

Paul (and other readers) Did You Laugh While Reading My Last Paragraph?

I read the U'U 7.04 (?) Help section but couldn't figure out how to log
off the ubuntu account and began using the ed account, so I asked about
it here.

ReThinking it over now, when I put 12.04 in a vBox I will just go ahead
and Install it.

That way any questions I ask will be about the Regular Use of U'u
instead of me running it as a Live CD in a vBox.

PQ>I have the feeling now that I've gone overboard. Do I need smack! in the
PQ>chops? ;-)

I will leave that up to Maurice and The Other in here to decide if you
need a smack, I don't know enough yet to know IF You Deserve a smack or
not.

I Know You're Not Leading Me Astray!

Thanks again for the help.
