BP>Hello Ed!
Hi Benny,

Thanks for all the C= info.

BP>cpm works with this !

BP>did Bill Gates says hes famaous words of 640k is enough for ... there ? :)

That is what I have seen people mention for a long time, the 64 only had
38000 bytes to play with and it suited me.
-------snip--------
BP>and the lack of dos disks support in kernel roms in cbm computers depended

BP>commodore 64 and commodore 128, its so sad :(

But wasn't the PET Kernal made long before IBM hired those two guys to
"make" an operating system for the computer they wanted to sell to the
public?

The 1541 floppy drive had CBMDOS in ROM, but that is a different kind of
dos, isn't it?

I'm glad to have the 1581 and the msdos64 program to use when I want to
pass something from the C=64 to the other box.

BP> BP>>petspeed need more disk space so there we go

Around the 1970's I saw a PET at a friends house.

BP>sad aswell this was so limited in design, since i think units can be up to
32
BP>imho in the roms ?

At least with the Commodore Serial Bus all one has to do is to HAVE THEM
ALL connected (Daisy Chained) but only have 4 of them Powered Up, then
when the 5th unit is needed, just turn one of them OFF and then turn ON
the unit you need to use.

I haven't studied how many Units C=64/128 computers can access mostly
because I've never bought any REU's to play with.

Floppy Drives, Printers, RS-232 Interface Adapter and the Super Snapshot
Cartridge is the most High-Tech I gotten into on my C=64, the REU's,
Hard Drives, etc., etc., that were available for purchase didn't
interest me mainly due to what they cost. I am a cheap guy.

BP> BP>>but my sx64 broke after a cat traped on it :(
BP> EV> Bummer, is the cat still living or is it like Maurice's Sister that
BP> EV> the ......Moose.... ran over?

BP>i have to ask his sister :)

BP>but imho only the cabinet was demanged, so the keyboard still works, just
BP>lately i begin searching for all my c64 hardware so i noticed i forgot where

BP>i have btw 4 cpm disks one MUST have with that computer, it still miss
Format
BP>1581 command to my 1581 drive, could you in someway help me transfer it to
BP>media ?, eg put format 1581 on a cpm disk in 1541 floppy formated single
side
BP>disk, then i need that disk with only holds the format 1581 command nothing
BP>more or less, i will in case you can help send a copy back of my 4 cpm
disks,
BP>in 3.5" if i can transfer them, else i will try format a 3.5" in msdos 720k
a
BP>hope my cpm msdos wedge is with me

BP>maybe i just need that slip link cable :)

I looked at the directory of the 1581 Test/Demo disk but didn't see any
cpm files on it.

I don't have a 1571, but I looked on a 1571 Test/Demo disk but didn't
see anything about cpm, but there was a FORMAT DISK program on it.
That program was just the regular way to Format a C= floppy, not the cpm
method you are needing.

If that file will help you let me know, I'd be glad to Mail it to you,
No Renumeration Required as the FCC Rules for Ham Radio say.

I've been helped a bunch by a lot of other people with this computer
hobby and if I can send a 3.5" 2S/2D disk to help You either tell me
here or email to my First Name DOT my Last Name a t sbcglobal dot net .

If you will put the word Linux in the Subject Line that will help me
know your email ISN'T from a S P A M M E R.

At least I haven't seen a spammer use the word LINUX in any of the
messages that my ISP puts in the SPAM Box instead of my In Box. Yet.

I just remembered Tom Walker reads this echo, He may be able to help You
with the cpm Format problem you have.
