Hello Martin -

CA>>> fwiw: You aparently missed messages where I mentioned
CA>>> that I have two Linux installs on another machine.
CA>>> Probably not _your_ 'distro' but they are both working
CA>>> Linux installs.

MA>> Perhaps you should inform me what installations you have.
MA>> It might be fun to compare notes.

CA>> Slackware but I would have more 'fun' discussing OBERON.

MA> I'm sure you would have more fun discussing OBERON but we
MA> need to get back to you assertion that by operating as root
MA> when using Linux that i am a danger to others. This is a
MA> very serious accusation. I think at the very least you
MA> should make an effort to substantiate your claim.

You operate with admin privileges from 'root' 24/7 and advise
others to do likewise - that makes you a danger to others.

CA>>> I've also installed and rewritten parts of OBERON to get
CA>>> it to connect to the internet. Have you installed OBERON
CA>>> on your machine? S'matter chicken?

MA>> One of the tactics used by people who have argued them
MA>> selves into a corner and can no longer defend their
MA>> position is to change the subject.

CA>> I'm not changing the subject. Your niche OS is Linux, one
CA>> of mine is OBERON.

Your "security by obscurity" applies even more so to OBERON. :-)

MA> But you are trying to change the subject. You accused me of
MA> putting the security of any one i communicate with on the
MA> internet in jeopardy.

MA>> I don't know what OBERON is. I have never said i did. I
MA>> don't care what it is and if you have been playing with
MA>> the code there is a 99.999 percent chance i will never
MA>> install it.

CA>> Don't try, you might learn something.

MA> All i have learned from you so far is that you feel free to
MA> make accusations then squirm and wriggle when you can't
MA> substantiate them.

You are obviously a troll. I've been patient with you and your
nonsense but you continue to rant obsurdities.

MA>> I think the subject is security and operating as root on a
MA>> Linux system.

CA>> You confuse FIDO with marriage. I can discuss anything I
CA>> chose to. ;-)

MA> No you can discuss in this echo what the Moderator feels is
MA> appropraite.

I can chose to discuss nothing at all which is where this
discussion is headed.

MA>>> Try talking about something you know about and not
MA>>> something you wished you knew about. I'm not going
MA>>> anywhere. Bring it on you twit. Tell me how i can
MA>>> compromise the internet by being root in such a way i
MA>>> can't do it as a user or shut up and stop making a fool
MA>>> of yourself.

CA>> Let me guess, you're the 90 lb weakling with a keyboard?

MA> I am 6'2 and about 147 lb but you got the keyboard part
MA> right.

At 6'2" and 147 lbs you would snap like a toothpick. ;-)

MA> Let me guess...you are 36 24 36 and judging by your sig
MA> file spend most of your time prancing around in a leotard.

I'm the guy you wouldn't be having this conversation with in
the real world.

CA>>> Sure. Once you are 'rooted' the hackers can
CA>>> install/modify your system to be anything they want it to
CA>>> be.

MA>> So let me get this straight. First they penetrate my fire
MA>> wall then they somehow negotiate my spam filter taking
MA>> control of my computer and wreak havoc on the internet.
MA>> Are you on some kind of medication or been indulging in
MA>> Mary dyou wanna?

CA>> Why not move this to the LINUX echo where you can explain
CA>> to the rest of the Linux users that you alone can operate
CA>> as root 24/7 safely and have no reason to worry about
CA>> doing this?

MA> Worry? No i don't worry. What i said is that if something
MA> goes wrong i learn by it. But what you have said is that i
MA> am a danger to others on the internet. So far you have
MA> indulged in wild speculation about what could happen but
MA> produced little factual information by the way of how it
MA> can happen.

I will watch while the other Linux users educate you, or at
least try to.
