Ärende: Linspire and SuSE

I find Linspire relatively easy to use. My MCI purchase
includes 3 month of CNR (you probably are aware this is
Linspire's subscription service that installs up to more
than 2K software programs for some $99.00 annual cost).
So after a bench burn-in of the PowerSpec 1405 (I do retain
some good OT practices 8-) I chose to use the CNR to update
the OEM ver. 4.5 of Linspire to more recent Five-O; rather
having to update programs I may have installed under 4.5.
Because of the limited monitor size and my dimished eye
sight ability; this stumbled a few times (until I read the
instructions on my Win PC's 20" monitor) while doing the
update.

In between heat spells, I made a list of the CNR software
I most wanted for my needs. I have about 30% installed now
I test each after installing to make sure they do what I
think they should do for me. (I believe in computers working
for me; not me to make them work 8-)

The only unresolved problems presently is the PowerSpec CD
device and the SmartDisk USB floppy drive I had successfully
added before upgradeing to Five-0 (Michael Robertson's choice
of designation of the OS before he turned the CEO job over to
his second-in-command before he starts another company; phone
use on the interent) are not fully up to speed under Five-0.
I am now waiting on Linspire's Customer Assistance with that.

So I will look forward to everyday fun use in another couple
weeks of gardening and participateing here in FIDO.

Previous SuSE 9.0 useage was largely limited to internet
communications and some genealogy stuff. We corrupted it
(and resident OEM Win-XP)attempting an upgrade to version
9.1 during installation of new 160GB hard drive in my
SysteMax Tiger 970,555 (very bad idea 8-( So I look forward
version 9.3 when my son gets here with that challange.
