Ärende: software for linspire

Hey CHARLES!

I suppose. I imagine if I used or needed to do that often a spreadsheet would
be more attractive. However, looking at those packages these days it isn't
worth the bytes given that those packages have dependancies that I never use
for anything else. If it were important to me I might change my attitude about
spreadsheets.

Probably what I'd do is have a server dishing out proper cgi sripted tables and
keep the required bloat to make that work on the server. Tables seem to work
okay in html's, even to a purely text based client such as 'links'. Looks to
be more then capable for something like what you are describing and employs
scripting which is nice and most OS's these days take care of the client end of
things so that no extra bloat would be required across the network. Once the
server is set up and communicating a spreadsheet-like display and any required
IO could be handled without having to install any extras on the clients.

I've seen all sorts of forms that work on the internet. Why not a networked
'spreadsheet'?

Right. That is the usual case. I haven't made a chart in ages now. I do know
how to read them and get a good sense what the point of them are but I see
little reason for me needing to create any. There are definetly better Unix
based programs for this sort of thing then there ever was in MS-world and has
existed for longer then MS has been around. MS still hasn't caught up with the
past.

Life is good,
Maurice
