Perhaps but I have doubts.  I am not sure at this moment where this is all
heading or will head later on.  Things can and do change.

Sort of.  We'll see.

It should all work.  I stumbled across 'tvtime' which works excellent with the
conexant based tv card but only on X.  Looks really good I have to admit. 
DVD's are still a questionable thing given some work great while others don't
work at all.  So much for standards there.  Data ones work good and can even be
made bootable so all is not lost but I can't say much about the movie ones
except the ones that do work are very nice.  I've been using both mplayer (X
and console) as well as xine (X only) for the few I have actually bothered to
watch ... and that will actually cooperate.  Apparently I don't seem to care
that much about movies these days.

I heard a thing on the news yesterday about rental stores abandoning tapes
(VHS) soon.  As of that report around 80% of rentals these days are DVDs.

How is that?  I didn't know there was a Linux version of Photoshop but
comparing the Linux gimp to the Windows version of Photoshop I would have to
say that gimp wins hands down without even trying to win.  As for the Windows
gimp maybe that is true.  I don't use Windows myself but have seen both in
action on Windows.  All I learned from either of them is not to use Windows if
you want the REALLY good stuff.  :-)
