They are too busy playing games to be bothered.  Isn't why they install
Windows?

2400 here but I never bothered with buying a PC until they actually could do
something constructive.  By that time 2400 baud modems were the mainstay of the
dialup crowd.  Not many of them back then.

The first for me was the University of Saskatchewan Library which was running
on VAX/VMS at the time.  Basically it was an online database for all the books
on all the libraries on campus.  Worked good until they went to httpd and then
it really sucked since lynx was still in it's infancy a the time and menus were
all screwy on the screen.  I liked the BBS better to be honest.  Worked great
with telnet and the menus were neat, tidy and readable.

I've been known to post in a few of them.  Why do you ask?

So what happened to them?

Educational institution for me.

Phhhhtttttt!  It was too crippled.  Learning Unix way back when was far more
enlightening.  I had no problem ditching DOS for Linux once it became an
alternative.  I have no regrets in that department.

How many Windows users actually use it?  Can it handle standard telnet on a
network connection or do you need more of that third party software you were
talking about to handle proper networking?

I don't mind that as log as the background is dark and the text in bright
colours.  I hate most ansi bulletins on BBS's these days as the colours they
often pick are too dark and I have to strain my eyes trying to read them.
