Hello Maurice -

CA>> Interesting thing about 'standards', the W3C weilds the
CA>> newest 'standards' like a club and meanwhile webpages are
CA>> 'broken' by browsers that either were written prior to the
CA>> new standards or by programmers who chose to ignore them.

MK> Or companies who contract programmers to ignore them.

True.

CA>> The OGG and PNG formats intended to replace proprietary
CA>> sound/graphic MP3/GIF formats were a long time coming and
CA>> even now there is a good deal of software that doesn't
CA>> _fully_ support either OGG or PNG.

MK> What's your point? Given that I am using a text browser by
MK> default neither of those capabilities are wanted in the
MK> first place,

LINKS can display one graphic at a time (a picture is worth a
thousand words etc.) and then there is music. You like music
don't you?

MK> and therefore if the httpd can't handle outputting
MK> compliant html then the sending the unrequested formats
MK> would be a big no-no ... would it not?

The server 'serves' whatever files were uploaded to it, I don't
get your point?

MK>>> They are too busy playing games to be bothered. Isn't why
MK>>> they install Windows?

CA>> I think they install windows to earn money for
CA>> food/clothing/shelter?

MK> Hm. I thought you said they were intellegent? ;-)

There is little intelligence connected with earning a living
for the majority.

CA>> I jumped from 300 to a USR 14400 baud (and it still works).

MK> I jumped from 2400 to 14400 and later beyond. All the
MK> beyond modems were externals as I never cared much for
MK> wasting a perfectly good pci slot on a modem. They all
MK> worked really good with Linux.

CA>> LINKS and LINKS2 do a great job maintaining a well
CA>> organized display.

MK> I don't think either of them existed back then. I first
MK> heard of links in this echo. I think it was either Pascal
MK> or Francois who educated me about links.

LINKS is comparatively new, yes.

CA>>>> Have you ever lurked in the sysop echos of fidonet?

MK>>> I've been known to post in a few of them. Why do you ask?

CA>> The vulgar language, hate-mail, accusations, etc. were an
CA>> education. Nasty bunch IMO.

MK> Bah! A bunch of wimps if I ever saw wimps. Sheeple ...
MK> every stinkin' one of them.

OK, if you say so.

MK>>> So what happened to them?

CA>> They got old.

MK>>> And what happened to them?

CA>> They got old.

MK> Everything is getting old.

You noticed?

--8<--cut

CA>> Well I rewrote the code and changed the colors to what I
CA>> wanted them to be so yes, the background is black. :-)

MK> That is best methinks. Easiest on the eyes.

CA>> I did pick one blue that is too dark.

MK> I hate when that happens.

Me too.
