Only the older Slackware live which doesn't work for my particular setup other
then on the console.  I could never get Knoppix to boot properly on any of my
machines since I don't seem to ever follow the standard PC setups but have
booted it up successfully on other's regular PC's.  I can boot my customized
live CD's but they won't boot up on regular PC's other then in console mode as
I have a backup kernel on my live CD which takes into account regular PC's but
will only boot in graphical mode if there is a proper vesa 2.0 compliant
graphics card onboard.

So it is possible to get X going right from bootup on a live CD but only if the
PC has standard hardware.  That seldom happens with me personally as I find
standard PC hardware to be utter garbage and not worth paying any money for. 
Heck even if gratis I seldom bother seeing as it can never seem to do it's
intended purpose correctly let alone anything meaningful.  Therefore I tend to
stick with the straight and narrow and use live CD's purely as maintenance
disks rather then as Linux demos.  Purely commandline stuff that requires the
user to understand the true purpose of the live system.

I could say the same of bootable flash disk systems.  I build for the intended
purpose of the machine and don't bother considering the user at all, other then
the performance of the machine with respect to what the user will end up with. 
So if the user is using a Windows box, then that user will get whatever access
to whatever service with absolutely no regard to Windows on that particular
machine I targetted the flash disk for.  If streaming multimedia then the
Windows box better understand the format or it won't work.  If the user's box
can't handle proper standards then my stuff won't work for them and I tell them
to go talk to Bill Gates about it as I don't do Windows BUT my machines do the
job they are intended to do 100% or they get the heave ho.  I hate garbage.  I
already have too much of that I need to do something about and don't want or
need any more.
