8x16 is it for most all linux console fonts, so far, but i think this may
change as screens larger than 800x600 become less rare.

you did try the vorbis codec, then? it's the best open source audio codec
available afaik.

something else :)  i've seen a video cd player advertised on one of the spanish
language uhf channels here (they're all uhf) but don't know what those use and
haven't seen videocd's anywhere else, i guess.

sounds good. i've noticed there are some cpu and vga coolers available with
built-in thermistor and motor speed control chip, so one of the larger ones can
cool many cpus almost silently, and completely silent most of the time perhaps.
