They aint acute.

OUCH! I can sympathies. I forced the USB->802.11g to stick to W98 last night. I
did have to persist though, as it would lockup, or at least slow to a crawl. I
plugged, then unplugged, and booted, and rebooted, kicked the damn thing...

Now I need to synchronize the Gentoo->NIC and router flashing lights. I'll
likely still need to boot the second W98 rig to speed up the troubleshooting,
but it came up with a POST beep code, that sounded _really_ slow.

What're you gonna do, eh? It's *always* something.
<Sucker for punishment. ...Er, a challenge.>

Salt and pepper to taste? I just know you are introducing the herb family.
<chuckle>

MK> Ther goes the neighbourhood. ;-)
Ya... I aint smilin'. We'll see how open they are, but I'm counting on not
being able to USB to the thing like the old install.

JB> no arrival time scheduled for the IT.
MK> Yeah, yeah. Heard that all before.
Still, no funny...

JB> I've all but relinquished the library to being a book repository. Go
 MK> Probably a good idea.
I know, but it won't stop me from trying to USB->hub->USB a hd to it. {-|[

JB> I've noticed that in you. Besides a track being closer in frequency,
JB> refraction to a scratch, is there a content

MK> dvd rom. Too much effort for too little rewards is really
 MK> the bottomline there.
That's why a backup, to the backup was invented. <G+D>

MK> Understood. As long as it works for you then super.
Understandable, too, is the plethora of "books" they keep coming up with. We're
starting to run *out* of colours, but maybe someone's secret plan is to work
their way up to "Magenta", or "Fuchsia". Yes, and people who use them for
coasters, or wind chimes, then try to restore from them are just plain idiots,
or sorely misinformed. As a distribution medium, I have a hard time finding its
equal at this point in time. Like I mentioned, MO might be more foolproof, but
that just encourages the fools to store them in their furnace, right beside the
stator.

MK> Bonus! I like mplayer especially with mga_vid. That is
 MK> too excellent to ignore.
Running it, I realized how few and far between is my video library. Ah, once I
communicate with the 11g router, assemble the new headboard+footboard, at least
start to lay the HW flooring... ... ...

Now, if I could only stay away from auction houses...

I did pick up some spectacular volutes if you're interested. {-|[

JB> sea, but I'm sure DVD is as trustworthy, given the same care, as a
 JB> CD, no?

MK> Which isn't saying much methinks. Do you want the DVD
MK> burner? I could use the money.
L! Too late! I just picked up burner #2 for $20. If you're interested in some
Mahogany furniture, or wood-slat blinds, give me a call. I'd offer you
porcelain
tile, but the shipping would KILL us. It almost killed me, and took a few years
off the shocks.

...And the world rotates in the direction it should.

MK> great though so I am happy with it the way it currently
MK> is. I may even mover the sata over there for hotswapping
MK> but probably not. That thing has enough to do running and
 MK> monitoring three networks already.
I'll just bet your lab, and my main floor looks equally equipped to the
untrained eye.

JB> to use four USB ports at one time. <?> I know, "Not bloody likely!")

MK> Why not? I suppose it depends on the hardware you put on
MK> there. I've had no problems with flash disks and
 MK> harddrives.
Ya, after that brilliant brainstorm, I took a look at the machine. It
replicates the two onboard ports. Guess they saw me comin'.

 JB> Celeron PPGA 466/66 works, and the FC-PGA 700/66
MK> Sounds to me like a mutliplier issue.
That's what I was starting to assume. Because my HW guy called it a 100fsb
without batting an eyelash, lead me to believe it was a pull from 100fsb
system, and just may be telling the 370 to give one thing, and providing
another.

 JB> boot... USB floppy.
MK> I have and haven't had success. Bios is usually the
MK> reason. I have gotten a few boards to boot from usb flash
MK> devices but that isn't the norm, especially with older
MK> motherboards even when the bios claims it can.
It turns *counter* clockwise, only when you look South.

MK> expensive and difficult to come by.
Only if I trip on it, then. <G>

JB> I just picked up a load of 802.11g stuff, two of which are USB
MK> Sounds like a good plan. You'd fit in well in this
 MK> neighbourhood.
"Don't you love it when a plan comes together?" <LOL> I have a plan A, B, *and*
C. <G f/ear->ear>

MK> That should work. It does here but my neighbour is
MK> responsible for the win98 stuff which seems to have fallen
MK> by the wayside ever since I showed him how to build his
MK> own linux stuff. The corker was the mencoder experiment.
MK> When he saw the quality of the movie and it's new size he
MK> was totally floored and I haven't heard anything about
MK> windows since. He also likes the sata hotswapping idea
Ah... Shop out the bad stuff. You're brilliant in *so* many ways. (-;
