Hey James!

What manufacturer/model is it? Also it might be possible to upgrade the
firmware on there if it turns out to be a dud.

 JB> I recall
JB> reading about "*something*up". Is this the right horse to chase?

Where do you get the address from? Are you using dhcpcd to link to the router?
It might be configured to only allow a certain address to use the setup page.
Personally I don't bother as we have a different machine that looks after
everything and suckered the wireless router into thinking it is in charge when
it isn't. This way someone who can get access into the router cannot gain
access into anything else, especially not the broadband. That is a wasted
interface methinks (the WAN port). It ain't gonna happen. Seems to me that an
access point would have been a better idea but we weren't sure what we wanted
out of wireless back then. Fortunetly we were able to figure out how to bypass
even having to use the supplied setup page so it really doesn't matter anymore.

JB> I only need to install modules if it is an internal 802.11g NIC,

I think so. That is all I did and am directly wired to the wireless router via
two different machines (only need one but I like to test ideas without screwing
up the REAL important one) that may or may not ignore any signals coming in
from an actual wireless machine out there within range.

Yeah. I hear you there. I've done simular like forgetting to plug things in
and then wondering why it won't power up.

MK>> Maybe later. I still need him for soldering jobs.

JB> LOL! I'll be right over with a U-Haul. I'll fill the other half with
 JB> the wooden
 JB> blinds.

Sounds great! We'll see you when you get here.

MK>> am think might be dangerous to the longterm health of the
MK>> drive. I am not sure but I don't trust it.

 JB> <Jaw drop> No, I won't be trying anything like that.

It might be okay but to be quite honest things like that I avoid simply out of
priciple. I prefer the real over the faked and in the case of floppies I never
did like the real nevermind the faked.

JB>> I did pick up some spectacular volutes if you're interested. {-|[

 MK>> Huh?

JB> Volutes... You know, it's like a pilaster, but different. <Wry-G>

Okay. I think I get you now. I am not sure I need anything like that but the
blinds do interest me. Right now I have the ones that got banned, or they were
thinking of banning, since they are toxic if you lick them. I haven't bothered
to test mine. Do you think I should?

JB> ornamentation. ...OK, if you look at a four poster bed, the four
 JB> posters - or
JB> capitals, if you will - are volutes.

That would work on my current bed. Nothing like that on there at the moment.

JB> Trouble is, I've had to get creative to fit it in here.

Really? I haven't noticed that but it does happen every so often, perhaps even
more then all of the other echoes combined. I didn't know it was a 'must'
though.

 JB> too
 JB> frugal to let
JB> go of the great deals.

That is one of my flaws too.

JB> I'll be sure to toss you some pictures. It will take me some time
 JB> though.

Sounds excellent. jpegs work great here.

JB>> ...And the world rotates in the direction it should.
 MK>> We have a choice?

JB> Ya... Go to the other side of the equator, and look North.

That is simply perspective and has nothing to do with changing the spin
whatsoever. I was thinking something more dramatic then that.

 JB> Good on ya! <L> What's wrong with a co-op? There's a reason it was
 JB> contracted
 JB> from cooperate.

Yeah. I remember that well. Not much of that happening these daze but you
have my attention if you think you could make it real wrt hardware.

Life is good,
Maurice
