With all this buzz about Umbuto, (Or however it's spelled) I think I'll give
that a spin while I'm at it. With what I've seen of you and others talk about
Slack, and now that I'm bumping my head on the features/quirks of the
pedestrian
flavors... At least I'll know not to bother with xfce this time. O-8*

MK> Whoa big guy! Network conflict. Make one

Well, thanks for the compliment. <G> So, the minor/least
significant/nibble/whatever number is not enough to distinguish one from the
other. The more you know, the more there is.

I just finished using the RH tools get me to the 11g bridge. I'd read a few
times about what a HW firewall was, and a few were even touting how Linux makes
a super one. I have no delusions when I read a RH boot message, "Instituting
firewall..." I do think I'll have to rely on the encryption to secure my
wireless nodes almost exclusively, none the less. At least I can now get to the
setup pages to both the router, and the bridge to administrate them via Linux.
Now, if I could start logging in in as *other* than root... <D>

I think you nailed a big one on the "Bcast" address, BTW. The RH default was
using a VERY different one than the Gentoo default. Bottom line, is I can run
two NICs in the same MB, (Thanks, "big guy!" |-) and I've enough dumb luck to
stumble on the setup pages, and just enough info to tweak the right things to
get there.

My main thrust at this time was to check the HW for defects. Mission
accomplished! <YES!!!>

JB> Ralphie Klein (Our fearless leader in Alberta, Canada.) actually has
 JB> a bent for recycling.

MK> Really? I've never heard him talk on that
MK> particular subject. Talking medicare is usually
MK> where he inserts foot in mouth.

His mouth is big enough for both feet. He's done some great things, but he can
be quite insufferable. I can't say if our progressive recycling doctrine
predates the "right honorable", But we do have some solid options with just
about anything you can think of. The tetra-pack, and glass bins are hard to
find, but having a place for my electronics makes me happy. Cheaper than the
dump to be sure.

JB> (Might have something to do with his drinking problem.)

MK> I thought he quit ages ago?

Ever hear the term, "Dry Drunk"? He still does things like throwing Liberal
reports at Pages, and predicting a Federal Liberal minority government (Or
whatever his prediction was.) shooting his foot with the Federal Conservatives,
before he salt + peppered it...

 MK>> router?

 MK> shouldn't I?

Just having some fun at your expense. <Apologies>

Now that I can get to the firmware on each, I suspect I'll have many less
quandaries now that I can read their help pages. (Yes, one of them allows for
online firmware updates.) Thanks again! (AHHHH!!! ;-)
