I have no experience with that. I've heard people complain about it before, but
couldn't fathom why they were so frustrated with zmodem. Ya, sure, it seems
stupid, (What's the word for it?) and horribly redundant, but I thought the
overhead would *just* be the expense of the CRC.

MK> about the phoney-baloney tcpip stuff in Win98?

I know nothing about that, except that I used it. It is a poor product then?

Well, I suspect here, the sysop does some remote business via his second line,
and I even see facsimile traffic in the logs, so I'll bet his modem performs
double duty on that protocol too. As long as it services other functions,
keeping the line up for me, and me alone could be justified. Because it is a
*real* boon for me, I will go to great lengths to assist him at every turn, and
never, EVER call him a fool for doing it. Besides, he seems just as quirky as
you and me, and if birds of a feather...

JB> squisher, or to whatever, is the Achilles heal, AFAICT.

MK> Right. Needs a filter for
 MK> whatever<->{QWK&|Bluewave} which doesn't seem to

Well, there's a fix for the BW reader, to QWK door for a date issue, and I read
about a BW user's, husband writing a fix into a disassembled copy of BW, to
sidestep the that external batch file. Then there's the great work of this
Multi Mail. I haven't seen anything "broken" on it.

It's a little "back to the future" if you ask me. Where the nerds at
universities used to call each other via acoustic couplers, today the only
alive OLMR is written in *NIX if I'm not mistaken, and ported to DOS. Dejavu,
all over again?

MK> Along with nobody really caring anymore. I

There is that element.

 JB> "Welcome?" <LOL>

MK> Errrr ... yeah I suppose. Some of us are
MK> obviously more stubborn then smart.

Nice to know I'm in good company. Shoot, over seas, it likely has quite a few
years left at *least*.

 JB> quirks.

MK> Anything significant going on there?

Ya, I'm just about off to an auction for some pneumatics, and air tools.
...Want-a come? It is Saturday, and we had a bit of rain (snow?) over night, so
it will likely be too packed for my liking.

 JB> Everything!

MK> Right. Too bad something suitable couldn't be

Ah... Nice idea!
