Right.  I've done stuff like that and have gotten lucky every once and awhile. 
Seems to me that good luck can be made to happen.  For sure it wouldn't have if
you never tried.

Sounds like it already is Debian albiet approached from a different angle then
the traditional Debian path.

Solid plan.  That is where the good stuff is.

dd has been around for ages so it doesn't surprise me that it is simular.  Are
you certain that JCL isn't dd-ish?

So can mplayer but to be honest neither one needs to as far as my personal
usage of them is concerned.  The ability to output to secondary interfaces is a
bigger concern to me personally, such as TV out as opposed to, but not
excluding, a regular vga interface.  I think that sort of flexibility opens
more options then network streaming does.  As for cpu speed I suppose it
depends more on the format and amount and size of input data needed to be
processed at any given moment and the current problem is that the dust hasn't
seemed to settle on what constitutes a movie medium and it's needs.  I notice
Sony has decided to convolute this particuar issue more these days.  Reminds me
of the old VHS/Beta conflict of yore.

Rumour is that tomorrow it starts here and promises to be more seasonal for
this part of the world.  Today is still HOT although you might not agree
(predicted 29C for later today).  Tomorrow predicted to be around 21C which is
basically comfortable room temerature.  I like the sounds of that.
