Me too.  However it looks to me that the entire drive is nothing but zeroes. 
Tell me the right tool for the job and I'll be more then happy to use it.  I
doubt any manufacturer has it or (more likely) will provide me with a download
that will work with the commandline in a Linux based system.

Then they miss a few spots.  ;-)

It shouldn't matter.  If there is something there that isn't up to standards
then they are the ones causing corruption.  No?

Why would you trust their utilities if they can't get standards right on their
own hardware that their utilities are supposed to check to see if they are
indeed correct?

Cool.  I'd like to see what your chosen app has to say about the dd-ed seagate
drive here.  However I'd need to send it to you and it isn't worth the shipping
to me to find out.  How about you?
