Hey WAYNE!

Excellent.

WC> Did it go fairly easily?

Most, if not all, linux kernels nail it right out of the box ... errrr ... in
the bax? That is one reason I like the bttv based cards. However with fbtv
(from xawtv), a matrox card and fbset onboard it can't be beat. Currently
using a pci matrox g450 with 32M and dual heads, one vga the second dvi. Have
yet to play with the second head but according to all accounts it is detected,
locked and loaded. I'd like to output fbtv to the second head, as well as
mplayer eventually.

WC> Can you give a brief general outline of it?

04:01.0 Multimedia video controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt848 Video Capture
(rev 12)
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 66
        Memory at 4a000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=4K]

05:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Matrox Graphics, Inc. MGA G400/G450 (rev 85)
(prog-if 00 [VGA])
Subsystem: Matrox Graphics, Inc. Millennium G450 32Mb Dual Head PCI
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 177
        Memory at 48000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=32M]
        Memory at 4b000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
        Memory at 4a800000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8M]
Expansion ROM at 4b020000 [disabled] [size=128K]
Capabilities: [dc] Power Management version 2
        Capabilities: [f0] AGP version 2.0

WC> I've looked into it a bit myself.

I recommend it.

See above. They two I've dealt with, both Bt848, have given me no hassels
whatsoever other then the first one going south on me one dark and miserable
day I'd rather not talk about. This current one seems happy in it's new found
home.

WC> Also heard that you need a tuner card with a sound out or earphone

I am outputting the sound to a sound card;

04:00.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10k1 (rev 0a)
Subsystem: Creative Labs SBLive! 5.1 Digital Model SB0220
Flags: bus master, fast Back2Back, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 58
        I/O ports at 1140 [size=32]
Capabilities: [dc] Power Management version 1

WC> Does any of this make sense?

Yep. A piece of cake as usual. :-)

Life is good,
Maurice
