You've got me.
I *did* find an alternate source that was unimpaired but
I am reluctant to employ it lest I let it be known I'm posting
from there.

Seems odd I noticed the access problem just before it was being bragged on
in fidonews however.
Oddly enough after a number of days impairment with this very packet
the QWK door is working again it seems.

Before this echo had been only active when I was online telnet.

Now to see if I can reset the message pointers and recover lost posts
from you and Paul.

I've got them in a QWK packet from another BBS but migrating them over is tough
with arthritis.

I'm quite content to reside in the 32 bit world of of Gateway
1999 thank you

Got a CD - DVD cleaner too and my DVD is playing movies flawlessly
and audio CDs as well.

I started to migrate those reply messages but in a senior moment
deleted them by mistake.

Paul Rogers said ISTR about my Linux question
about migrating Linux across partitions wasn't stupid.
Certain individuals here and in fidonews are in fact saying what I post
here is in fact stupid.

Those delayed messages await another day when I can muster the
the physical and mental effort.

Yet another Linux project, figure out aspell to incorporate into the
OLR editor.

Oh yes, now I recall what you posted.

A kindly offer of charity regarding doing better than next month on a few
things, USB card, external case, Linux From Scratch and along those
lines.

Well Maurice I certainly do appreciate the thought
however charity goes down hard for me.
Two years ago I did in fact accept the generocity of several
who in total donated a modem, hard drive and Linux installation CD
This as this is my sole window onto the world I swallowed my pride.
Now however I've a perfectly servicable PC and thanks to you and Paul Rogers
with a nod to Martin Atkins for his firewall input a perfectly
nicely configured operating system.

Paul pointed out I think checking to see about computers donated
for the disabled and I am thinking abiout checking there
for a backup system.
Right now I'm hot on Gateways and anything 450 MHz or better.
Should be doable given what people toss because of Windows resource
requirments.

Oh, when I bought the CD lens cleaner I asked the clerk ( who had a computer)
if he thought my 450 MHz Pentium would play video DVDs.
He laughed out loud at the idea, then I pointed out it did so
while only using 65 percent of my CPU resources using Linux.
His response? "oh"

As I'm currently in a partly cloudy kind of state of mind what is LAME?
Seems I need some related library in order to get SOX to convert WAV to MP3
audio files.
Something for a less cloudy day.

Someone else ( possibly from a Russian Republic)
I intended to reply to inquired about why was I going to
reinstall the Mozilla browser when it crashed after installing
a beta flash upgrade.
Well that was a concern and Windows thinking on my part.
Indeed it is only one file libflash.so that I did know about
as I'd done the manual install.

Now removed ( libflash.so) the browser is healthy once again.

You know Maurice, it must be a severe character defect on my part
but I just don't _get_ the joys of having fun at expense of the disabled.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.
Well it well and truely has been a strain trying to suck
this post out of the muck and mire that is my memory and mind today
and I am well and truely exhasted for it.
If the pattern holds I may have some more clear days ahead hopefully.

Linux From Scratch is penciled into my budget for the first week of the month.
Hopefully when it gets here I'll still be able to read it <g>

You know though tired I'm in quite good humor at the moment, yet another plus
for advancing dementia.
