LOL!  Would be the same here.  Making E9 (MasterChief for me) would keep me in 
but as i have to either select orders in January or put in my papers which 
makes me inelgible for the April E9 boards, that is probably not going to 
happen unless I get orders I really like.  Then, if i make E9, I'd have enough 
time before transfer that they would change!

My only saving grace on that if they did change, is I *probably* would still 
get shore duty because I'll have not only 6 consecutive years seaduty, but all 
6 of them have been 'forward deployed' (our roughest type and to add to that, 
at one of the roughest locations as Sasebo is remote to start with).  The only 
newly made E9's who get shoreduty first time up for orders after that, come 
from 'Forward Deployed' (we call it FDNF) or are in specialty skill 'rates' 
(think MOS) where sea duty is rare or non-existant.  In my career specialty, 
neither apply.

Probably a WINmodem then? I bet if you plug in an external (if you want to play

with such that is), you'd have it working pretty fast. I remember getting RH5.1

to talk to my internal USR modem, but that was long ago and such things were 
not the 'WINMODEM' of today.  A lot of the older embedded HW controls are now 
handled by software and WIN is about all that the modem makers develop it for 
so you cant get the drivers.  I believe however XYcel still makes ones that 
work?  USR might as well.

Goodie!  SuSe 10.2 as well!  I'll be one happy camper!  Be patient though ifI 
hold up on the upgrade of the SuSe on the main WINbox.  It will normally take 3

weeks to get something to me out here and i ted to not tweak the WINbox if I 
might be going to sea soon and it's stable.  I might boot the Vaio with it to 
play though!

Charlotte and i are seriously discussing just making the VAIO a UNIX box but 
she (just talked to her) wants to play with Fedora and the 10.2 SuSe before 
deciding.  She wants to know if you dual boot Fedora as some of her sites like 
the XP software better (apparently a few features at some 'Trolls' ( a kid site

about an Anime set of critters, a bit like the Pokemon you probably have heard 
of).

If you or another have experince dual booting with Fedora, we are all ears 
here on which OS flavors you do it with and what problems you may have 
experienced.

(Oh, it's www.trollz.com, she's looking over my shoulder that i got the sites 
right that like XP vs SuSe.  She remembers a macromedia flashplayer involvement

and that we were on SuSe 9.1 and it was an issue.  Trollz.com issue.  No issues

at all with neopets but is pretty sure she didnt play anything that required it

and avoided she thinks the few that she thinks needed it).
