Hey WAYNE!

Nothing mission critical. If you discover you require something like it later
on we can deal with it then.

I am not sure message pointers are something that would benefit from touch.
Maybe. Haven't given that any thought.

:-)

I find that works best.

I am not sure if that would work. At one point in kernel development console
based framebuffers never used more then 16M tops. I haven't checked lately but
seeing the latest kernels are loading the full 32M of real memory on my card
I'd have to conclude that situation has changed. What does dmesg report about
fb?

For streaming off the net use the -buffer=XXX switch. Default for XXX is in
kb's so for a 1M stream -buffer=1024 would be ideal. They will play less
choppy but I am not sure I'd try an entire movie that way using a regular
dialup modem. For short clips that will make all the difference in the world.

WC> If not I figure to solve that problem another way.

Right. What I do is cut and paste commandlines into a text file for later
retrieval and editting when needed. I find that works best for me and try and
remember to back those files up every now and then as they can become really
important in a pinch.

WC> The differences are most interesting.

That is the ONLY way I ever do it if I even bother with X at all. I've never
been a fan of GUI's ever but have a looksee every now and then to remind myself
why. For the mostpart day to day stuff on machines I use don't require
graphics so a GUI is wasted methinks.

WC> Once again I thank you for pressuring me into using Slackware.

You're welcome. I figured awhile ago it was more or less what you wanted.

I'd be surprised if you could double it. Offhand I'd guesstimate you might
squeeze at best a 20% increase and even that I would find surprising. Mind you
I've been surprised before so I certainly don't wish to disuade you to try.

Life is good,
Maurice
