Hey Sam!

Really? Such as? Near as I can tell here binkd does everything required of
such a tool. Everything else is covered by regular Linux networking apps, far
better then any ported DOS crap. I have yet to find a better way to do
networking then straight Linux.

Yes. Servers don't need any pointy-clicky stuff. That just bogs them down.
I've never understood why people insist on installing desktop type apps on
them. Oh well.

I am not much of "chat" person so that has never been an issue with me. As
long as pine and ftp work - ssh these days as well - then I tend to be happy.
I've played with httpd a bit lately, cgi scripting, but even there I tend to be
frugal so they lack in graphical-type stuff, especially spinney icon thingies.
I really suck at that sort of stuff. :-)

SA> On my Mac I use Fink to give me all these neat apps :)

Never heard of it.

Sounds good. There were no computers back when I was in high school, not even
calculators although they were just starting to show up then, but they weren't
allowed. A slide ruler yes but no electronic gizmos. Outside of that
everything computery was punch cards. I stayed clear of that luckily. My
first real experience with commputers was with VAX/VMS (no punch cards -
whew!).

SA> I plan on getting my Linux box reinstalled this wekeend (hopefuly),

No BBS at the moment. I was looking at Maximus but they are too married to all
that DOSie scripting stuff. I refuse to install that despite using and liking
it way back when on a DOS box I used to have back when the dinosaurs still
ruled the earth. We'll see what happens but my inclination is to run something
purely Linux that would be impossible to install on DOS, and especially not
Windows or anything remotely like it. To be honest I hope all BBS ports to
Linux die a miserable death. :-)

Life is good,
Maurice
