Hey Robert!

Oct 25 10:30 04, Robert Couture wrote to Maurice Kinal:

RC> The software developers and the FTSC.

Until it is a standard, which it isn't, then I can safely ignore it. I don't
even need a MSGID at all. Given the decioon by Rob not to follow the norm wrt
MSGID and the fact he has absolutely no legitimate reason for it, I suspect
there might be many good reasons not to run SBBS, especially on Linux. You and
Rob don't like my criticism? Tough darts! I am right and you both are wrong
and there is nothing either of you can do about that.

RC> That's simple enough. Someone would see a quoted message that the
 RC> original
RC> was not visible and query as to what happened to the original. It
 RC> has
 RC> happened before.

Right. I know that. I even said that because it has happened. I've seen it.

RC> True. And for whatever reasons, you are wrong in not disclosing the
 RC> information.

No I am not. I am just saving those programmers from a bunch of grief.
Instead I will deal with it because I don't mind taking pokes at SCO-type
programmers.

RC> How can things improve if you have people with the

 RC> and
RC> people who use it, is the only reason you will not share.

I told you. Either fix it or don't. I don't run Rob's software and now I have
more reasons not to.

RC> To me, that is just stupid.

Too bad. Not your call is it?

RC> Again, here you are wrong. The author is willing to listen and fix
 RC> the bug
RC> with a mind towards eradicating a definciency in a standard.

Bullshit. His "fix" fixes nothing and only isolates it's users from certain
other software that isn't in error.

RC> deficiencies that are current in the standard but is also backwards
RC> compatible with this piece of software could be achieved.

What? Nothing wrong with the current MSGID and if there is then I'll continue
to ignore it or perhaps even strip it out along with the other unneeded
kludges. I don't mind.

RC> Either that, or the standard gets updated and the author of that
 RC> software
RC> will need to update his software to meet the standards.

Yep. We'll talk about it then.

RC> FidoNet Standards have changed over the years to cope with differing
RC> technologies and to meet new challenges.

Such as?

RC> Well, we won;t know for sure, because you won't assist in making
 RC> FidoNet a
RC> better technology due to your strange fixation against Windows.

I could care less about Windows. Never used it myself. What for?

RC> Ask Rob Swindell, he can explain it better than me.

No he just dictates. I doubt he can come up with a valid reason. He has been
asked and I have yet to see him respond on this particular issue. Endianess?
Heh, heh. It has absolutely nothing to do with endianess and if he says that
then he is either stupid or a liar. Take your pick.

RC> And what does that have to do with MSGID's and Windows software? Do
 RC> tell.

Beats me. I never used Windows but have seen others crash it with the greatest
of ease while bragging how great they and Windows are. Funny stuff.

Life is good,
Maurice
