Hey Andy!

Huh? I thought I already knew what I wanted to log into. A health chunk of
what I want from a BBS is basically what I'd find useful as a user of a BBS.
To be quite honest I wasn't looking to please everyone and think that all the
above sounds like far too much hassel to deal with, speaking both as a
potential sysop and a user of any BBS. I'd appreciate access from anywhere
simply because it would allow me to have a central base or anchor as it were.
I figure that if it were useful to me then chances are it might be useful to
others. If not then what's the point?

Right. So what do you suggest to alleviate that problem? Perhaps a personal
configration file for each user where they can set any variables that please
them (ie display colours)?

 AA> The
AA> person mentioned above who's new to BBS'ing doesn't really have an
 AA> idea
AA> that there are different boards with different interfaces.

Right. Just like people who think the internet is MSN. Tons of those around
here. They have no idea what the internet really is. Not that it is their
fault since the education system is owned by MS these days so how could they be
expected to know given the lack of a healthy, well rounded knowledge base. MS
is far more crippling then just having to use their OS btw.

AA> This is just what I'm writing *now.* You obviously
AA> wanted to discuss it with me, so I'm discussing it. :) I'm not a
 AA> sysop,
AA> nor do I plan to be, so do my opinions even matter? :)

Yep. However, I am more interested in what you want from a BBS, nevermind the
rest. I already knew all the other stuff which is why I am hesitant putting
one up on the internet in the first place. I can take care of myself and know
what I want.

Life is good,
Maurice
