Gregg,

I would ship the Antec back as defective and get a replacement. Antecs = are
typically quiet power supplies. And one of this low of a power = output should
be damn near silent.

I like PC Power and Cooling power supplies for their reliability, but = they
are far from the quietest no matter what their website says.

  The fan in my six-year-old computer power supply began making unusual=20
  noises. I decided that instead of replacing the fan in the power =
supply,=20
  I would replace the whole supply with one that thermally controls the=20
  fan speed.

  I bought an Antec True Power 330 watt supply to replace the 235 watt=20
  Power Man supply. When I took the old supply out, I noticed a label =
that=20
  said "W/Noise Killer". I wonder what that was. The old supply was a=20
  reasonably quiet one, but I was looking forward to an even quieter =
one.

  Well, the new supply has less fan turbulence noise than the previous=20
  one, but it also has a whining bearing noise that was not present in =
the=20
  old supply. I think I'd rather have the wide-spectrum turbulence noise =

  than the narrow-spectrum whining sound.

  I suppose this is a result of having ball-bearing fans instead of a=20
  sleeve-bearing fan. Is this typical, or might it be defective? Should =
I=20
  return it and get a PC Power and Cooling supply?

  My other disappointment was what happens when I put the computer into=20
  standby. My old power supply would leave its fan running in standby. I =

  thought the newer power supply would not. I was wrong. Are all power=20
  supplies like this?

  Gregg
