Ärende: Can you write a registry key value early in the Win2K boot process

Hey I've got a how to question for you guys.

I have a keyboard in my city apartment where I find it convenient to use = the
remap keyboard utility that comes with the Win2K Resource Kit to = remap the
locations of two keys (so that they match the other northgate = keyboards I'm
used to using). One of the two keys is the escape key, = and I don't know of a
software solution that works after win2K boots to = remap that key. The remap
keyboard utility that comes with win2K = resource kit does remap any key
including the escape key, by changing = the registry and inserting an entry for
"Scancode Map" under the = Keyboard Layout key. Right now to turn on the
remapping, I have to boot = up; run the remap keyboard program; then reboot for
the changes to take = effect. To remove the changes when at a different
location, I have to = boot up; run the remap program; clear the remapped keys,
and reboot = again. I'm looking for a way to write the value to the
appropriate keys = (or delete the key when going the other way) early enough in
the boot = process so that I don't have to do a full boot, change and reboot.
Is = this possible on Win2K? Win2K in my case is on a Fat32 drive if this =
makes any difference. Saving different hardware profiles doesn't work = as the
key in question is present in all hardware profiles.

Thanks,

Gary

P.S. to John O, etc., the other day I came across a company that claims = to be
the direct descendant of the old IBM keyboards that was spun off = by IBM to
Lexmark and then spun off by Lexmark to these former = IBM/Lexmark employees
http://www.pckeyboard.com/. They have brand new = IBM knock offs of the old
ps/2 and AT & XT and terminal keyboards. They = have them with the little
pointing stick thingy by the g and h keys. = They look exactly the same as the
originals and supposedly have the same = weight and feel. Use the same
buckling spring technology, etc.
