Its true MS provides more +ACI-choice+ACI- than Apple. However, =
Microsoft provides much LESS choice than they should, IMHO. Also, there = is a
qualitative difference to providing choice on things AFTER the = Monopoly was
leveraged to kill off the meaningful competition in a = particular area. =20
Apple isn't a monopoly so they have no duty to provide choice and they = don't
that's for sure. Microsoft, because of its Monopoly, does need to = provide a
lot of choice. I believe Microsoft still takes improper = advantage of its
Monopoly on operating systems and distribution to = leverage their
applications. Use of undisclosed undocumented API's, = etc. I'm sure its
still the norm at MS.
So while its true MS provides more choice than Apple, it provides far = less
choice than it should because it should be a far more regulated = monopoly than
it has been so far. Sporkin had the right ideas and = solutions, and MS bought
off and out negotiated the Clinton crowd on far = too many occasions.
