As long as they don't pop up I figure that's just the cost of getting the site
<g>. BUT when the same (&*^&*%^$ flash ad is running in 10 tabs  there goes the
CPU. There are ways to Nuke them but that's Global, not just opera specific. 
It hasn't bothered me enough YET to look for a better solution.

I didn't think it was what you wanted. You can have multiple saved sessions.
There MAY be a way to create a 'set' saved session and use that one to start -
Assuming that the session that you end with doesn't overwrite it. I'll play
with today if I get a chance <g>.

Opera does have its quirks. Some decent features but definitely several
quirks<g>. Seems to be highly customizable with additions but I haven't been
that interested in those features.

I've got a copy of Maxthon but haven't used it that much. Had I used it before
I went to Opera I probably would have stayed with Maxthon. I had several
'learning' issues with Opera ( and still am <g>).  I just hate trying to move
my bookmarks <g> . Guess I'll have to try again to find a good program to move
them from Opera. Maxthon may be a better fit on the laptop I have.
