That's all new to me.  I've heard of workstations, even Intel ones but the rest
I've never encountered or heard of before.  I obviously live a very sheltered
life.

I suppose.  However, most of the programming I did way back when there would be
little benefit to an ide.  Very little, if any, had anything to do with
"normal" user-orientated applications.  From what I've seen with most Unixie
type programming I doubt there would be much benefit having an ide.  The
typical Unix program as a rule tends to be fixated on doing one thing.  I
suppose the beefier apps, such as a shell program, that might differ but most
basic Unixie source I can't really see it.

Really?  I have yet to see them make inroads.  We must be talking about that
other OS.  A few years or so ago Borland tried to get their foot in the door
with Linux but didn't get that far with it that I've noticed.  Same with Sun
and Java, although they've had better success with that simply because they've
always been Unixie, but it appears to me that most of Java tends to be limited
to a few web applications and hasn't been the unifying force Sun predicted way
back when, especially considering they had to sue MS over that very issue.  How
has that all worked out since?  i haven't noticed any real effect.

Anyhow, to get back ontopic, I really don't know what use a perl ide would have
on a Linux box given that most perl scripts tend to be quite small and fixated
towards a specific task at hand, not unlike most things Unixie.  I honestly
don't see it happening to be quite honest.  Perhaps on XP but fortunetly that
has absolutely no impact here.
