So we stop sending death sentences for convicted felons to the federal 
supreme court.  I am good with this.  Likewise the conservatives fought 
against the federal government telling the state of Alaska what it could 
do on its own land.

The issue wasn't Michael making a decision about Terri.  The issues was  
that the judge ordered her to be killed.  So far we only do that with 
convicted felons.  I am fine if the judge had said "I order that 
Michael's wishes be carried out".   No problem whatsoever.
