That would give him a small part of 10meters for phone and small parts of 10,
15, 40 and 80 meters for CW. Ten meters is ok some times, but propagation isn't
always good enough to get out of a deep valley in the Ozarks.

I have both the VX-2R and the VX-5R and I am impressed how well the VX2 does
from inside my house talking to my friend driving around town.

The VX-2R has 1.5Watts with the internal battery. It's only about the size of a
large pack of gum too. :-)

Most likely. I can even send him a free directory. I got 6 of them when I
ordered a couple of their large books. I couldn't figure it out why until I
read that the 2005-2006 book was to come out. They must have decided to unload
the 2004-2005 directories by using them as packing material. :-)

I like my VX-5R, it was only $199 while the VX-7 is over $300.

Heh, I just bought 2 Icom IC-208H dual band mobiles. One for my car and one for
the HAM shack. I got the cloning software to make setting frequncies a snap.

<G>

LOL in the latest "Logger's Bark" (the newsletter for the Radio CLub of Tacoma)
they had a little single pane comic that showed a house with an attached
carport. The car sitting in the carport had a huge HF antenna sticking up off
the bumper. The roof of the carport was cut out around the antenna. :-)
