Yes, I was having a bad day (and it shows).

The problem is, John, that if you were allowed to do what you want with ham
radio (and believe me, it's obvious that neither you nor Vern have experience
with it), the inherent abilities and power associated with that kind of
equipment would wreak havoc on everyone.  There's good reasons why there's
laws in place and it's /NOT/ being "nannied".

The ignorance of non-hams is really starting to show in here.  It's not an
insult, it's the truth.  I'm glad there's laws in place.  Even those laws
don't work all the time (ask any Californian ham that tries to use 10 meters
and instead gets a bunch of illegal immigrants polluting up the airwaves with
their vulgar Spanish chatter).

I'm sorry, but until you and Vern get some real ham experience, you two simply
can't hold an arguement with me about ham radio.  Ignorance is no excuse for
an arguement.

I've been a ham for nearly ten years now.  I have very valid and good points
for having the opinions I do have.

This is a good analogy to religion: although I'm not practicing, I've been a
Mormon for 24 years.  It's really funny to hear someone who's never had any
real experience with the Church go off on it and talk trash to me.  It's
embarrassing (albeit unknowingly) to the person who does so.

It's the same thing with ham radio.  If you aren't experienced in it, you
simply don't understand why the things are the way they are.  I'm more
Libertarian in my opinions and I'm the /LAST/ person who wants more government
involvement in /MY/ life, but in this case with ham radio, I'm fully for it.
