If you had bothered to read the WashPost article, you might have gotten
a clue as the identity problem with the fish.  They clearly state the
quote of GWB was a retranslation from the German, not from a transcript
in english.  Quick check of an online English-German dictionary shows
that the german word BARSCH is used for both our words "bass" and
"perch."


So, completely unarmed with facts, you launch into this irrelevant BS
about world record for _yellow perch_.  What in anything you read makes
you think that the fish in question was a yellow perch.  Shit, the TX
state record for yellow perch is a bit over one pound.  Did you find
this on your own, or fif you find it on some equally ignorant anti-bush
blogspot?  While looking for perch, why not look for Nile Perch?  If you
google for TX record fish, you will find that the TX record for nile
perch is over 12 pounds, and the fish was caught not too far from
Crawford.

BTW, the official US transcript of the GWB interview with Bush hit the
whitehouse website on 5/7 - - if you want to satisfy yourself, go to
www.whitehouse.gov , click on "News" and find transcript under the 5/7
date.  The transcript refers to large mouth (should be largemouth) bass,
and records that there was laughter after the remark.
