Which does not mean we should give up our freedom to dissent.  Every
restriction on our freedom that comes from our government is a victory for the
"people" we're fighting.

Yes, we do, which is why I've never said we should cut and run.  I don't like
our boys and girls being hurt and killed in a war of choice, but we started it,
and we have to finish it and hope the results turn out well.

Which is what Hamas, et al claim when Israel withdrew from Gaza, and plans to
withdraw from most of the West Bank, yet our same leaders who say the
terrorists win if we leave Iraq support Israel's withdrawals.  Why is that? 
Israel has lost a far greater percentage of her population to terrorism than we
have, and continues to lose people, and is a tiny country surrounded by
enemies, a country which could be destroyed by a few nukes (unlike us, a large
country bordered by two oceans), so why is our advice to them, "Do as we say,
not as we do?"

Yes.  Saddam kept Iraq under control because he was ruthless.  Nobody denies
that.

Someone who would be shocked at the actions of our government today, and the
people's acceptance of it.  Benjamin Franklin.  And it's "liberty," not
"freedom," in his quote.  *adh*
