As the crisis in the mideast unfolds, I can't help but be amazed at how the
left is falling all over itself trying to get the US to abandon Israel, and run
away.  They simply can't think beyond saving their own asses.  Pride, honor,
integrity... all unknown concepts to them.

Israel has been put into the position its in now because of pressure from the
US.  40 years of appeasement have finally forced them into a corner from which
there is only one way out.  We may be seeing the beginning of World War III,
but if that is so, then so be it.

We told Israel to be moderate, to turn the other cheek.  We encouraged them to
pull out of Gaza and the West Bank, to give the Palestinians a homeland.  We
encouraged them to go along with elections that resulted in Hezbollah and Hamas
gaining political ascendency over those areas. All in the name of peace.  In
the meantime, the terrorists, supported by Iran and Syria, have made themselves
stronger than ever before.

Because we allowed the gutless wonders on the left to distract our attention,
the North Koreans have marched steadfastly to the brink of nuclear
brinkmanship.  While we have wasted time at the United Nations, we have allowed
the Iranians to reestablish and enhance their nuclear enrichment programs, and
to provide support for terrorists in Iraq, Afghanistan, and now Hezbollah
forces in Lebanon and Gaza.

I do not believe in Armageddon or the prophecies about the Final Days, but we
most certainly are on the brink of a war between civilization and freedom, and
the forces of extremist Islamic fundamentalism.  It has been forced on us by
those who perceive us as weak and decadent, and it is a war that we cannot
afford to lose.

I hope those who have helped get us here live long enough to realize what they
have wrought, but the sad fact is they won't.
