It is a hilarious story that is still growing and morphing.

The ORIGINAL story by Leopold said "24 hours."  A couple of days later,
with no indictment announced, "Will Pitt" of truth(sic)out contacted
Leopold to see what went wrong with the story.  Leopold's response was
that he didn't literally mean "24 hours," and it should have said "24
BUSINESS hours," whatever that means.  The story on the website was then
edited to insert the word "business," with no indication that this was
a revision and with the ORIGINAL date left intact!  As the days went on,
Leopold and "Pitt" continued to twist and turn.  Faithful DU'ers began
to doubt the story.  There was even a beautiful little tantrum where
"Pitt" bitterly attacked "Skinner!"  He quickly deleted it, but some
astute viewers saved the post and reprinted it elsewhere.

I'm sure you followed Leopold's meltdown, especially when people started
to go into his past failings that caused him to slide from doing serious
journalism for real publications to doing rumors for truthout.  Larry
Johnson (the person Bobski considers highly credible apparently) and Joe
Wilson came to his defense, claiming to have multiple sources who
verified Leopold's story!

What you may not have seen, since it wasn't as publicized, were the
instances where bloggers claim to have caught (by tracing his IP)
Leopold leaving comments ABOUT his story under fake names.  And now
there are accusations that Leopold, or Larry Johnson, or the poet who
writes for "rawstory" who has been cited often in fidonet recently, are
behind a series of threats made to bloggers.  E.g.:

Unrelated but also hilarious, I saw a recent thread at DU that turned
into several personal attacks on Ronald Reagan.  I won't name the person
who started the thread, but he has often bragged in fidonet that he is a
Reagan-Goldwater conservative who voted for Reagan twice and dislikes
Bush because Bush is not a TRUE conservative.

I'm sure you are also delighted at the spectacle of the Democrat party
imploding as the nutcases attack any Democrat who isn't as nutty as they
are.  The anti-Hillary sentiment is growing, and they are even knocking
themselves out to defeat the person who was THEIR Vice-Presidential
candidate in 2000!  A few months ago I even saw a touching memorial at
DailyKos, commemorating the date that David Bloom died in Iraq.  It was
an opportunity for the website to once again talk about the Iraq war.
But they would have been choking and sputtering if they had known that
David Bloom really WAS a Reagan republican who made his first appearance
on national TV in 1984 arguing for Reagan's re-election!

Politics just gets stranger and stranger.
