The average Muslim is a peaceful, law-abiding citizen.
The average Jew is a peaceful, law-abiding citizen.

There have been, and are, terrorists of every religion.
That does not mean that Judaism, Christianity, or Islam
encourages terrorism.

FDR was wrong in detaining Japanese and Japanese Americans.
GWB was wrong in detaining Arabs and Arab Americans.

Should FDR have deported all Japanese and Japanese Americans during
WWII?  Many were.

Should GWB deport all Arabs and Arab Americans during his "war on
terror"?  Many have been.

Bush is a divider, not a uniter.  Invading Muslim countries, and
threatening to invade more Muslim countries, is not a way to build
trust between America and the Islamic world.  No president can put
the world in a straightjacket and expect everything to remain the
same.  The world does not work that way.

Today we do not fear Buddhists.  In fact, America and Japan are
the best of friends.   Sowing discord around the world, especially
towards Muslims in general, is not a road to peace.  Rather, it is
a road to disaster.  With America being the loser.

What we should be doing is engaging in dialogue with our Muslim
brethren.  The better we understand each other, the less likelihood
there is for war between our respective peoples.

Maybe in 2008 the American people will decide to elect a uniter,
rather than a divider, as president.  And what a welcome change
that will be.  Not only for America, but for the world.
