That's pure garbage, Gary.  How long do you think either party would last if
people decided that party had outlived its mandate?  What happened to the Whig
Party when its members walked away?  It evaporated like smoke, that's what.

First, let me say that in principle, I have nothing against splinter parties. 
People are entitled to join and vote whatever party ticket they wish to.  But
please, explain to me what the purpose of voting is.  Not the idealistic,
patriotic version we got fed in grade school; the grownup, realistic,
why-you-vote version.

Now, each party stands for certain basic things, and each party wants to win to
pursue what it believes is the best way to do things.  But, we've two things
wrong here.  First, the Democrats haven't said ANYTHING about what they will do
to improve things - only that the Republicans are despicable warmongers, etc. 
What have they put forth as an alternative?
Secondly, our terrorists enemies have gone on record urging us to vote
Democrat.  WHY?  And why are the Dems so strangely silent on this subject?  You
don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that they want the Dems to
win because then they will have an easier time of it in Iraq and elsewhere
because they believe that the Dems will cut and run.

How in god's name can anybody who considers themselves a patriot and a true
American even consider voting for a Democrat or anybody else who can't win? 
It's completely incomprehensible to me.  The only thing I can think of is that
those people either don't give a damn about America, American troops and
citizens, or American ideals; or they are so consumed by hatred of Bush and the
GOP that they would ally with our enemies at least in principle just to defeat
Republicans and regain power.  In my mind, those people are not Americans, and
they deserve nothing but contempt.

So, yeah, I guess I do have a vested interest in the Republicans winning.  It
just happens to be the same vested interest I have in seeing America succeed in
everything it does; in seeing our troops win on the battlefield; in a strong
economy and low unemployment; in low taxes; and in promoting American style
democracy around the world.
