Apparently you didn't understand what i told you about 3rd party candidates. 
The reason they are largely irrelevant is that they can't possibly get elected.
 The Libertarian Party is arguably the most successful 3rd party in our
history, and I don't think they've ever won a national level seat.  A candidate
that can't get at least 40% of the vote doesn't have a snowball's chance in
hell of winning in a 3 or more person race.  So why do you non-American's waste
so much time bemoaning the lack of 3rd party candidates?

We have always been a two party system, since pre-revolutionary days.  Third
parties don't ever get big enough to be a factor other than that of spoiler,
and then usually the Democrats are the ones who get burned.
