First of all, Canon Law is not part of the Teaching of the Church.
Canon Law is merely a set of rules and regulations.  Nothing more.

JH>legislation, he or she commits that heresy envisioned by Can. 751 of the Cod

Father Cole is full of beans, knowing full well that Canon 751 has
nothing to do with the price of rice in China.  It is Canon 915 that
lays down the rules for excommunication in regards to abortion -

Canon 915 - Those who have been excommunicated or interdicted after
the imposition or the declaration of a penalty as well as others who
obstinently persist in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to
communion.

What is the basis for excommunication?  One has to look at Canon 1398 -

Canon 1398 - A person who actually procures an abortion incurs a latae
sententiae excommunication.

Naturally, John Kerry has never actually procured an abortion for
anybody.  And neither has any other practical Catholic, regardless
of political affiliation.

grounds for any bishop to excommunicate him, John Kerry remains free to
receive the sacraments, including communion.
