Despite record job losses, folks in Ohio preferred to stick with Bush.

What the Democrats need is not a bad economy, but rather a vision for
America.  The entire Kerry campaign was run using tactics.  No strategy
involved at all.  Just tactics.  And that dog don't hunt.

FDR won election in 1932 due to Republicans splitting their vote.
FDR won re-election in 1936 with a recovering economy.
FDR won re-election in 1940 with a good economy.
FDR won re-election in 1944 with a war economy.
Harry S Truman won election with a recovering economy.
John F. Kennedy won election with a good economy.
Lyndon Johnson won election with a good economy.
Jimmy Carter won election with the economy coming out of a recession.
Bill Clinton won election with the economy coming out of a recession.
Bill Clinton won re-election with a great economy.

Seems like Republican candidates need "gloom and doom"
in order to win.  Democrats prefer prosperity.

The worse the economy gets, the more likely Republican candidates
are to win.  It makes no difference what the price of gasoline is.
If gasoline is $4 per gallon and the folks earn $20 per hour, the
cost of gasoline is very inexpensive.  If gasoline is .25 cents per
gallon and folks do not have jobs, the cost of gasoline is very
expensive.

FDR won in 1932 only because the Republicans split their vote.
In all other cases, the economy was fair to good.  Never bad.

If the economy heads south, expect the Republicans to have a
two-thirds majority in the House and a two-thirds majority in
the Senate.  And with Republicans controlling the White House,
the Congress, and the Judiciary, we will have a One Party State.
Actually, we're almost there already...
