I think the Democrats would gain a bit of respect were they to 
officially apologize for the misdeeds of FDR, JFK, LBJ 
(especially), Carter and Clinton (especially).  Harry Truman was 
the sole bright star in their firmament!

In 1937 we dropped right back into the Depression!  "thanks to 
the economic policies of FDR"? ... heh heh heh ...

The economy was doing very poorly in 1940 then defense- (later 
war-) production brought us out of the Great Depression finally.
