No, I'm not making your point.  By my standard and maybe yours, its a lot of
money; but by oil company standards its chump change.  Its enough that that
there is a profit, but the money they get from those operations is miniscule
compared to what they make from oil fields they own, even in the US.  Remember
too, that since 9/11 they have cut way back because of the threat to their
people.  Not amount of profit is worth losing good wildcatters, managers, and
geologists.  And, more and more of those workers who ARE over there are opting
out of their contracts early and not renewing them.  We used to have a fair
presence in both Iraq and Iran in years past, after WWII.  Not any more, and
they've been cutting back slowly in Saudi for years.
