The people of Iran had more than just a taste of western style freedom some
years ago.  They enjoyed it up until the militants took 66 U.S. citizens
hostage from November 4, 1979 to January 20, 1981 and placed the Ayatolla
Khomeini in to power, and they then enjoy much of what the taliban had to
offer.  Has things changed overly much since then?

I think the HOW does matter.  Nobody came and gave US democracy.  We had to
fight for it and hold it dear to us.  If they didn't fight for it in the
past 30 years, how much do you think they will fight for it now?  Like I
said, time will tell.
