A friend's nephew is leading a unit that just went recently into Iraq. He is
writing back with what is happening to them and what they see about once a
week.

He asked my friend to spread a request around for his unit and Iraqis who in
his area have 70% unemployment. Its the usual list for handwipes,  nail
clippers for them and things that can be used to make care packages to the
Iraqis.

My friend put together a nice document with a picture of the unit, his reason
for passing it around and the list of items that Lt. Ryan made up for his men
and Iraqis.

I have been passing it around to friends at various offices and they, after
gaining permission, have posted it and emailed it throughout their companies
and organizations.

Thinking that concentrating on conservative friends who work at very
conservative companies, I passed the document onto them. I also posted it at
where I work.

Its been two weeks now.

I was sure the stuff would begin to flow in from one company that a friend
works for. They have 80 people in his division and a vast majority are
conservative who actively send patriotic items around the internet, staunch
Bush supporters, they only allow Fox to be shown in the lunch room, very vocal
about their beliefs, etc. My friend there was also certain of the response, he
got 3 boxes ready. He emailed everyone there with the document and posted it.

As of today, not one item or one penny has come from a single conservative in
the office.

The only person to contribute oddly enough is the only known (openly liberal)
liberal in the office. He contributed to it immediately with a nice check.

Another office I sent it two was of a friend who is probably the most
conservative person I know. He is also quite generous. He is constantly on me
all the time for my moderate views.

He posted and emailed it at his office.

Its been two weeks now and nothing, nada. The firm is painfully conservative.
Bobby sent a very generous check himself and said he was ashamed of the lack of
response in his office.

A neighbor who saw me with the documents, asked to see one. He is one of those
rare beasts, a liberal who was in the Army. He never saw action, but asked if
he could keep it.

He works at a college. A college that has had on more than one occasion
anti-Bush rallies. I thought nothing would come of it.

So far its been a large response. Not in money of course with starving
students, but goodies.

Now what am I trying to say here? Conservatives are fakes? Tightwads?

Nope. Many of you here I know are quite generous.

What I am saying is that the liberals I see in here, day in and day out,
generically described as evil, idiots, thieves, liars and against the troops
are helping out our troops.

I know there are liberals out there who hate everything dealing with the US,
but not all are like that.

I also know now there are a lot of mouth-only conservatives out there too.

And why? Because they are all human first.
