  They say a person will tell you what you want to hear under torture, 
so if that person knows the truth, they will tell you, because that 
is what you want to hear.  Easy math, Dan.

   First, you are comparing hideous acts of torture with enhanced 
interrogation methods (waterboarding, etc)  It's like you're comparing
a slap in the face with a beating with a lead pipe.  BIG difference.
You can call a slap in the face a 'beating' in some shallow attempt to 
make it sound worse than it really is, but it's still just a slap in 
the face, something you can get over of within a minute.

   Second, no one method is going to produce positive results 100% of 
the time and no doubt some PR individuals will parade the failures 
around while ignoring the positive results.

   Third, if waterboarding and the like is the overall failure PR people 
claim it is, why have they used it for so many years?  If a 'chat' with 
the prisoner yields the results you have been told it would, why haven't
they just stuck with that and never resorted to more harsher methods?  

   Forth, if a dedicated and/or hardened prisoner knows you will never 
'abuse' him, not even take his blanket away, why would he tell you 
anything?

    I've asked these sorts of questions several times now.  No one can 
answer.  That by itself speaks volumes.   All they do is parrot PR 
claims that fly in the face of logic.

   Again, the whole waterboarding issue is just a partisan issue and an 
attempt to elevate Obama, most often levied by individuals who hate the 
CIA more than they do our real enemies.   Arrested development.
