And that's how gas prices are in general, higher in the northeast (blue states)
and all across the upper midwest. Lower in the gulf states (red) and the lower
western states.

I don't know about where you live, but nothing I've seen outside of California
is as strictly enforced.

That's possible, but they would have to comply with CA standards to import. Of
course there would be double taxes collected on it. Nevada isn't going to allow
it to be sold without collecting their state tax.

Both. Today's cleaner automobile emmisions have reduced dirty air a lot, but
there is still the industrial emmissions to deal with. LA still  has plenty of
dirty air.

Very little air pollution then, unless you consider methane gas from cattle
pollution.

I did the same thing when I moved to California in 1967. Once a person is
acclimated to the climate, they soon put on jackets, just like everyone else.
Even when I went back to Illinois two years later for Xmas, I shoveled snow in
a
t-shirt while I was there. If you saw a photo of the family that year, you
would
notice me right away, I'm the one who looks like a black sheep amongst the pure
white sheep. When I went back there last November, I didn't take along enough
jacket and had to buy one.

Does Ohio charge 46 cents/gal taxes?  That was one of the things the people
wanted the state to drop to relieve their costs during the $4/gal prices a year
or so ago.

I worked with an old timer way back when. His philosphy was to never vote for
an
incumbant. He was right about that in some respects.
