Personally.....I don't give a rats ass if you got any benefit from it or not.

My wife and I did very well, and from the Clinton years of having to write
the IRS a check every year he was president (and each succeeding year the
check we wrote got bigger and bigger), to the Bush years of getting
substantial refunds from the IRS (the refund I got last year alone will pay
for my vacation in about a month), pretty well convinces me that tax cuts are
a good thing.


We had a few people in here back when Bush first got elected in 2000, and
gave out the lump sum tax rebate, whining about how it was just a pipe dream,
that it really wasn't a `real' tax cut at all, etc etc etc. The usual bash
Bush or die bullshit from the liquid-brained left.


But it `was' a real tax cut, it has `remained' a real tax cut, for the first
time since Clinton left the scene we got a substantial refund, and I've been
getting a tax refund every year since.


By the way........I also pay my own health insurance, even though the
government deducts a substantial amount of money from my SS check each month
for Medicare. And I don't own any SUV....and rarely if ever ride public
transportation. About the only time I use public transportation is if I get
jury duty downtown in San Diego. I drive over to the trolley center, park for
free, and ride the trolley downtown, and get let off almost right in front of
the courthouse.


In any case........all the SUV hatred bothers me not one single bit. I've had
SUV's, enjoyed driving them, don't think any less of anyone who owns or
drives one, and don't think much of people who are constantly whining
and bitching about SUV owners.


Just for the record......I own three vehicles which I drive all the time. A
four door Oldsmobile with a V-8 engine, a GMC pickup truck, and a 23 foot
motorhome. I drive all three without guilt.


Oh and I almost forgot;


I don't `commute' to work every day. I drive one of my vehicles about five
miles from where I live and pick up the bus I drive all week for my employer.
The vehicle I drive to where the bus is sits there all week long. If I have
to go to a store, I just go there in the bus after my last drop-off in the
late afternoon (a large grocery outlet is less than a mile from here with a
large parking lot for the bus), get what I need and bring it home. Or I take
my pickup truck.
