Burning yard litter and other waste is already prohibited in 
many areas.  There used to be a cottage industry of selling 
used barrels for that purpose.  Selling them is no longer 
an option.  The, too, such fires can and do cause secondary 
fires.  

As to charcoal grills, I do believe that some areas have banned 
them.  That's a bit extreme.  At the same time, those grills 
in restaurants are required to have scrubbers in some cities.

See above.  As to composting, there is a problem with that in 
urban areas.  Some gardens are nothing other than a flower pot.

Methane from feed lots is getting bad.  And, if you've ever 
lived near a feed lot, it's not very pleasant.  However, to 
some, the smell is quite nice.  The owners of the feed lot 
say it smells an awful lot loke that of money.

Based on gas reserves, that may happen on its own.

Coal is by far the worst of the two.

Wind and water power are viable alternatives.

I'm not giving them a free pass.  If anyone is, it's the Bush 
administration.  They are the ones allowing imports without 
rules about conerns about the environmental hazzards.  And, there 
is the fact that Chinese labor has few protections in the work place.  
Add to that that many Chinese imports are dangerous, even deadly 
to the health of US citizens.
