Oh I know, this political mudslinging is so new..

Our society has long persecuted its noted ones for their misdeeds, the more
famous you are the more attention your deeds get. But if you want to get
perfect strangers, ie majority of the electorate, to vote for you, then you
have to convince them to...

Sometimes advocating a position on a given topic isnt enough for many people,
some voters, much to your chagrin, also take the time to look at the person as
well.

As soon as the Edwards story broke, you and Sauer immediately began defending
Edwards by using McCains past, something I havent heard much hay about until
then.

You blame the media on how it was handled, except you omit the fact that the
mainstreamers didnt really pay much attention to the story that the tabloid
did, until Edwards got in trouble at the hotel.

While it is true Edwards is no longer running for something, you have no clue
on how close he could have, had a primary or 2 gone his way, this should bother
you.

Lets assume this story had not broke yet... hypothetically.

This story would have had larger implications had Edwards managed to become
Obama's running mate, even much larger implications had the ticket won election
and Edwards was now VP..

or

At least in a presumptive Obama administration, Edwards was holding some post,
like Atty Gen.

This is what you and Sauer miss..

However...

Lets assume that the story broke later and Edwards went on to not be a
component in Obama's endeavours, either not selected as VP or appointed to a
position, or that Obama loses, he goes back to private citizen, this story
would not have the same size footprint.

Another thing to consider that if Former Vice President Dan Quayle was found to
be cheating on or have cheated on his wife, the media would feast on that as
well, not to the same degree, but his notoriety would earn him a spot close to
page one. It is highly likely that someone living within a 50 mile radius if
not less is engaged in some sort of infedelity to their spouse, being that they
are non-famous, I'll never know, nor would you.

That sir is part of our society.

Here are other examples, not topical to adultery:

What if in 1994, it was not OJ Simpson being involved with murder, but simply
John Q Public, JQP's trial would never have captured that much attention,
except for local metro section in newspaper.

Michael Vick Case, what if he wasnt a starting all pro QB in the NFL?

Michael Jackson, what if he wasnt famous?

Oh here is a good one...

Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings.. What is alleged to have occured between
him and Anita Hill, is far from unique, I do not speak to whether or not he was
guilty of any of it, maybe he was, maybe he wasnt, too late now.. But had the
principle characters been John and Joan Nobody Public, would we have seen that
circus on TV? Actually I will speak to this one, I dont think Anita Hill would
have said anything or been put up to say anything, had Clarence Thomas not have
been nominated. This circus was brought on my a Democrat controlled US Senate
btw.. Do note that the alleged behavior by Thomas towards Hill was the same
thing alleged by Jones against Clinton.

I bring this up since it appears that the DEMS have a taste for hypocrisy as
well.

Not at all, McCain has at least a 28year buffer to have gotten his marital act
together.

Put Edwards daliance that far into the past and you have a point.

What Edwards did at best was show that he knows how to cover things up, those
on the left should be doing a collective WHEW...

After all Bush is accused of covering up lotsa shit, with Obama, there is
change, hope and "we can", Edwards would have fucked that all up..
